In Peru, it is rare that a city stops urban encroachment. But in the sleepy town of Puerto Maldonado, the so called Capital of Biodiversity, urbanization has been stopped to the South of the city just 15 minutes from the main Plaza, where the Tambopata Ecotourism Corridor starts. This has been achieved by a group of families concerned about the loss of their diverse forest. These entrepreneurs have started to open up their houses to guests, offering simple but comfortable lodging facilities, as well as activities and activity programs. Despite being close to the city, this forest is home to some of the Amazon`s most emblematic trees, the Brazil Nuts. These trees and many others can be explored on jungle walks offered by the homestay initiatives, but it should be noted that wildlife sightings are infrequent. Jungle walks are only one of several activities offered here. Whether you are interested in yoga, participating in an ayahuasca ceremony, voluntourism with threatened wildlife, visiting local farms or relaxing on the Tambopata River beach, this Corridor comes up to the expectations. It is the hosts of these 7 different stays located along this Ecotourism Corridor that will make the difference to your visit to the Amazon Rainforest.
