Transfers between Cuiaba airport and Jaguar Research Center normally take about 7-8 hours. Most of the trip is by road, but the last 40-50 min are by boat on the Cuiabá River. If you don’t stop at all, the trip can be done easily in as little as 5:00-5:30 h, but you will not have time to enjoy the amazing wildlife en route. If you are going straight from Cuiabá to JRC, we recommend leaving no later than 900 h so that you can savor the transfer, which is a nature-rich adventure in itself.

In Private (PVT) program, guide and excursions will be in private, guide will speak English, and with advance warning we can provide a guide who speaks German, French, Italian, Spanish, or Japanese. With even more advance warning, other languages are available, but at extra cost.

Important: Transfers between Pantanal Wildlife Center and Jaguar Research Center in open truck (safari truck) will be sharing with other guests.

In Regular (SIB) program, all services are shared, and the guide will speak English. The maximum number of guests per group is 9 (nine).

Price does not include extras such as beverages, insurance, laundry (not available at JRC), tips, or other personal expenses. Unlimited drinking water is available at Jaguar Research Center from large water coolers. Juice is included at breakfast, and coffee and tea are included at all meals. All other beverages, including sealed, plastic bottles of drinking water, are extra. Bring you own bottle to refill, eliminating plastic refuse and avoiding extra charges for bottled water.

Children under the age of 12 are not allowed at Jaguar Research Center.

Prices are not valid for birding program, so please consult us for more details on that topic.

Jaguar Probabilites

Since July 2005, JRC has provided guests with 1,200 Jaguar sightings during 950 guest days. Between 1 May and 31 December, our unique SWJC Jaguar monitoring system oers a 90% probability of seeing a Jaguar during the daytime on all days other than during the rare cold fronts. Cold fronts occur on 6-9% of the days of June, July, and August, and 2-4% of the days of May and September.

Weather Warning

Ten percent of days during the May-September “dry-season” are cold and sometimes even rainy, with high and low temperatures of 9-12 degrees C (48 to 54 degrees F). For windy, cold boat rides, bring rainwear and warm winter coats and hats. Ninety percent of the days are hot and sunny.

Important notice about scheduling Flights:

Please schedule an early morning flight to reach Cuiabá. The group will leave no later than 3:00 pm from Cuiabá. If your flight is delayed, you will have to pay for private transport to SWP, as it is not fair for late flights to reduce the Pantanal time for on-time guests. The return from SWP to Cuiabá is around 6:30 am, which is ideal for flights leaving Cuiabá at or after 11:00 am. Guests with later flights are welcome to relax in our air-conditioned office and use free WIFI. The office is only a 6-min walk or 3-min drive from the airport.
