Green Eyed Tree Frog
|

The green eyed tree frog (Litoria genimaculata) gets its name from the green moss-like colouration around their eyes. This helps the frogs blend into the surrounding moss covered rainforest. They prefer habitat close to creeks and streams, and the rest of their body is a greeny-brown as camouflage against the damp rocks where they live. These frogs have unfortunately vanished from higher altitude areas but remain common in lower rainforest sections. Green eyed frogs are about 7cm long and found in the Australian Wet Tropics and the rainforested wilderness of New Guinea.
