Azure Kingfisher (Alcedo azurea)

An attractive bird, the azure kingfisher can be seen flying along waterways looking for food. It has an orange underside and blue upper body making it a noticable addition to the rainforest wildlife. They are often seen upon branches a few metres from the water where they look for the movement from fish. Quickly and efficiently, they dart into the water to retrieve their target then bring it back to the perch to eat.
