Short Beaked Echidna
|

One of Australia’s famous egg laying mammals, the short beaked echidna is the only specialised ant-eating mammal in Australia. They live throughout Australia and New Guinea in a wide range of habitats. Short beaked echidnas are identified by their dark brown fur with yellow, black pointed quills. They like to live where there is ground cover, hence being absent from city suburbs.
