Yellow Bellied Glider
|

Yellow bellied gliders are a type of gliding possum. With flaps of skin that stretch from the animal’s wrists to above their hind feet they can glide impressive distances. They prefer forests with tall trees from which to jump and are know to glide to around 100 metres. The second largest glider in Australia, they have a grey upper body with a paler to yellow underside that darkens to orange with age. Yellow bellied gliders have a call ranging from a short soft growl to a full call of two loud shrieks and a long, deep gurgle. These may function both to mark territory and to ward of predators.
