Andean Cock-of-the-Rock

The national bird of Peru, the Andean cock-of-the-rock is only found in the Andes. There is another species (Rupicola rupicola) that occurs in the Guiana Shield, but differs in appearance. The Andean cock-of-the-rock males perform displays to females on leks. Here the males confront each other aggressively getting more intense when females appear.
